After moving to California nearly a year ago, I’ve spent some time gradually decorating my room, picking out furniture and accessories that feel both functional and aesthetic. I thought it’d be fun to share a few of my favorite pieces and how I use them in my space.
The Desk
Since I work from home most of the time, having a solid desk setup and a comfortable office chair is essential for me.
For the chair, I chose the Sayl by Herman Miller. A well-designed, good-looking chair that offers great support and comfort.
For lighting, I went with the Tolomeo desk lamp. An iconic Italian design from 1987. It has a stable base and a flexible arm that lets me direct the light toward my desk during the day or toward my bed for nighttime reading.
The Wall lighting
I added some wall lighting to create a cozy atmosphere and add depth to the space. This wall sconce, Sconce 3 by Álvaro Ucha Rodríguez, caught my eye when I first saw it at Lichen NYC. Its minimal design really resonates with my style, and I love how clean and sculptural it looks on the wall.
The Drawer
My room has a double-door closet, but it’s not quite big enough to fit all my clothes. Adding a drawer unit gave me extra storage, and a place to display some personal touches.
On top, I keep a few of my photography prints and some small collectibles. The tray is from Craighill, made with a unique cork texture that I love. It’s perfect for organizing my accessories.
A scented candle is also essential to the vibe of my room. I use a floor lamp with a warmer light bulb to heat the candle. It's safer than an open flame, and makes the candle last longer.
The TV
Since there isn’t enough room for a full TV console, I opted for a rollable TV stand. I did some cable management and hid my Apple TV behind it, which keeps everything looking neat and minimal.
The stand also includes a small shelf where I keep my HomePod mini and a few books.
Chill spot
Having a couch is super important to me. I chose the Loveseat from N&V Fireside. It’s where I relax when I’m exhausted or watching TV. It’s compact, cozy, and very comfortable to sit or lie on.
Above the couch, I mounted a Hangi.Dutti rack to organize my everyday carry items. It looks modern with its metallic finish, and the rubber-wrapped hooks help protect my bags from scratches.
On the ceiling, a mobile art piece called Futura by Flensted floats gently. Watching it turn slowly is incredibly relaxing and adds a touch of calm to the room.
